An epic trip to Exeter saw us crowned regional champions see the highlights above.
A fine sunny day marked the start fo the domestic 7s season as we travelled to nearby Hartpury to see if we could improve on our cup runners up result from 2015. The pool stages were fairly comfortable with a 45-7 win against Lomaiviti 7s and a 45-0 win against the host Bamboo 7s. The pool decider against the Caveman was acloser afair but we won 5-2 in tries. The quater final against the Stags was a good game and we were tested by a good young team but came through comfortably in the end. Old friends and rivals the Warriors awited in the semi and just like Kinsale 2 weeks prior it proved to be an epic. The Warriors were out of the blocks forst and went a few tries up only for us to reply to set up a tense finish. With time nearly up we scored what we believed to be the winning try but the ref had other ideas and suggested there was still 10 seconds to play. After 4 consecutive penalties against us and 2 mins into time added on the Warriors crashed over to seal a place in the final. A cruel end to a great day and some fine individual performaces bode well for the rest of the summer.
Our first trip to compete in the Elite category at the prestigious Heineken Kinsale 7's in Ireland proved to be a great success and a fantastic start to the season. With a young and inexperienced squad we faced the daunting prospect of a loaded pool 1 featuring Welsh powerhouses the Warriors and the Butchers, SS7 side the Exiles and top Scots side the Waterboys. Game 1 was alsways going to be crucial and a reunion with our friends the Warriors on the main pitch was a fitting way to start. Welsh power dominated the early exchanges as we fell behind early but some great counter attack and the injection of pace late on saw us edge a tight match and make the perfect start. Next game against the Waterboys highlighted that we still have some way to go as defence let us down against a very slick opponent and despite some great scores we suffered our first loss. Last game on day 1 was against the Oloron Ponty Butchers and it was a classic! The lead changed hands reguarly in a tight game but we managed to previal at the end with yet another last ditch try. 2 wins and 1 loss from day 1 meant that a win int he final pool game against the Scimitar Exiles would be enough to get us through to the cup. The game followed previous patterns as we fell behind early only to improve as the game went on and seal a close 19-17 win against another top side. The cup semi final pitted us against the Assasins and a greeat chance to reach the final. Unfortunatelty things started badly as they dominated early possession and stretched our their lead. As in the other games we came back strongly and got right back in the game only for some contenious refereeing decisions to cost us dearly in the end and deny us a cup final appearance. A great first tournament and some great young debutants bodes well for the coming season. You can see some of the highlights below.

Some video highlights from Hartpury 7s and North Dorset 7s (and a bit of SW 7s). Unfortunately a combination of battery life and leaving the camera behind means that I have missed a fair bit but there are still some good tries...
